Good question. As many of you have noticed, v0.9.76 is the last version of eris available for download. Project got renamed to tiramisu (as a matter of fact, it’s the original name of this irc client – it got renamed to eris long time ago, but for several reasons I’ve decided to return to the roots) and I was hoping to release entirely new version with quite a few new features before the end of November. Unfortunately, my PC failed due to cpu overheating (it’s an old amd sempron on socket a). I was offline for over a month, got it working now, but basically nothing has changed – it’s still overheating, and the only thing that keeps it working is underclocking. Maybe it’s another damaged cpu, maybe it’s mainboard issue (it has it’s flaws, for example I can’t underclock it too much or it stops detecting my 3g modem on usb, or any usb device for that matter) – the fact is, I need a new PC. I won’t tell you when tiramisu will be opensourced – it will be, but certainly not before the new release will gather some bigger userbase, and not before I’ll clean up the source code – so certainly not in this year. What I can promise you instead is that I will continue my work to give you the best flash-based irc client available, ad-free. You can also expect the new release of tiramisu to be available for download at the end of this month. The thing is, I have no idea if and when this machine will fail again, hence the fundraiser. It isn’t some cosmic amount of cash – rather a realistic amount i need to get a new PC.
If you like eris/tiramisu, please consider making a small donation. Thank you.
